I find this book a lot different from the usual mainstream stories out there. The storyline is unusual but very interesting. There is a little of everything in there, like real life... The characters are very likeable even when they do awful things. The author does a very good job of writing about difficult events in a way that does not make you "dislike" the characters. I also like that the main characters show their strengths in non-stereotypical ways. He is not the "alpha" male type but is emotionally strong whilst she struggles with the opposite. You are along for the physical and mental journeys that they are on. If you are looking for something different to read that is not a mass market formula type book, then you will enjoy this.
