Redefines the modern novel

In this single book, Richard Powers manages to say all and more that I wish I could have in my 38 years as a biology teacher, and even longer as an aspiring writer. Few, if any, other books have as much to say about the human condition, our relationships with nature and with each other, and even those moments of pure transcendence. Everyone should read Overstory – it has the power to change lives, to re set our values and everything we live for. All that aside, it’s beautifully written too: truly worthy of its Pulitzer Prize.
